Mr. Sanneman is a full-time substitute teacher in USD 379. Following Covid, full-time substitutes were hired to help with the large number of staff absences. This trial run was a success, so the district decided to keep one full-time substitute. Mr. Sanneman goes wherever he is needed each day as certified and classified absences arrive. We are thankful to have him in our district!

The USD 379 Bus Barn has started a bus behavior campaign for the second semester. Each driver nominates a regular rider who exemplifies good behavior and shows respect for both the driver and the other passengers.
All nominees were put in a hat, and one name was drawn as December's winner. That student is Lillian from LES! Her driver is Merlin Fowles, who drives the Clay Center Squirrel bus.
Lillian was recognized at a Rise & Shine assembly at LES. She received a certificate, a $10 gift card donated by Short Stop, and a $5 gift card donated by Ray's Apple Market.

USD 379 Intervention teachers have gone through extensive reading intervention training from The Phillips Fundamental Learning Center. This includes Mrs. Coupal, Mrs. Fox, Mr. Liby, and Mrs. Swihart at Lincoln and Mrs. Galindo at Garfield. This group has excelled so much with the new curriculum that the Fundamental Learning Center decided to come to Clay Center and film a documentary about everything they are doing to help our kids succeed! It is a powerful video, and we hope you take a few minutes to watch!
